Introduction GIFT Bajura
GIFT-Bajura was previously known as Community Development Organisation (CDO), Manakot. Amendments were made to Constitution 2053 in 2059 (Nepali calendar), which was when its name was changed to GIFT-Bajura. It is a non-profit making NGO. Its head office is in Manakot VDC and the Project Office as well as Contact Office is based in Martadi, the district headquarters of Bajura.
GIFT- Bajura is registered under the Bajura District Administration Office (Registration No: 23/053) and is affiliated to Social Welfare Council (Affiliation No: 5701/054) and NGO Federation Nepal (Affiliation No: M68/054). The main objective of this organisation is to work towards increasing the income levels of low-income groups and financially backward population.
GIFT-Bajura has been running various programs with GO's, NGO's and INGO's ever since its inception in 1996. Examples are:
Scholarship Program with financial support from Devi Lama and her family starting in August 1993, continued on a regular basis. GIFT Bajura was then functioning as a CDC as opposed to an independent NGO.
Income Generating Goat Breeding Project in partnership with Social Welfare Council (SWC) in 1996.
Agriculture and Furniture related training in partnership with Manakot VDC in 1996.
Construction of 1 km long footpath in Manakot in 1997 in partnership with Manakot VDC.
Drinking Water Supply Construction in 1997 in partnership with CARE-Nepal.
NFE classes from 1998 to 2000 in partnership with CARE-Nepal.
JUMP Project in 2002 with donation of Nrs 2.500 from Mrs. Anna-Lena Henriksson from Sweden and Nrs 39.000 from Mr. Theo Gouwerok from The Netherlands.
PPS Program started by CARE-Nepal in August 2002, continuing regularly to date.
Social Mobilisation against HIV/AIDS in partnership with Save the Children UK regularly since December 2002.
RAMP with support from Mrs. Devi Lama and donation from Mr. Theo Gouwerok regularly since January 2003.
